Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples  Workshop (for clinicians)

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Online Externship in Japan

Sponsored by TELL Counseling, Japan's first official online Externship training for Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples will be held over three weekends. This event is for licensed and pre-licensed clinicians, and graduate students in an applicable counseling program. Billy Cleary, clinical director of TELL counseling, is the organizer, and Miho Takai, ICEEFT EFT certified therapist of Sky Counseling & Consultation Tokyo is the supporter for this event.

The instructor is Gail Palmer (RMFT, MSW), one of the founding members of the Ottawa Couples & Family Institute and co-director of the International Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). Gail has been teaching EFT all over the world for 30 years. EFT is best known as cutting-edge, tested, and scientifically proven couple intervention developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. This approach has been used in various countries for clients with various cultural backgrounds.

In the EFT Externship, therapists will learn how to view relationship distress through an Attachment lens and focus their attention on attachment needs and longings.  Therapists will expand their skill in recognizing client's emotions and be able to explore, heighten, and expand underlying emotions.  Therapists will also learn and practice how to facilitate new couples therapy conversations that increase their couples’ feelings of secure attachment, closeness and connection.
