Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples  Workshop (for clinicians)

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Online Externship Japan 2024

In the spring of 2024, we are excited to announce the second official online EFT Externship in Japan. EFT is best known as cutting-edge, tested, and scientifically proven couple intervention developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. This approach has been used in various countries for clients with various cultural backgrounds. 

 

The instructors are Gail Palmer (RMFT, MSW), co-director of the International Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), and Cindy Aiko Leimomi Goodness Zane (PsyD, JD) who leads the EFT Center in Hawaii.

 

In the EFT Externship, therapists will learn how to view relationship distress through an Attachment lens and focus their attention on attachment needs and longings.  Participants will also learn how to identify and be out of the current couples’ painful relational patterns (cycles). Therapists will expand their skill in recognizing client's emotions and be able to explore, heighten, and expand underlying emotions.  Therapists will also learn and practice how to facilitate new couples therapy conversations that increase their couples’ feelings of secure attachment, closeness and connection.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Online Core Skills in Japan

Japan's first official online Core Skills training for Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) will be held over four weekends. This event is for licensed and pre-licensed clinicians, and graduate students in an applicable counseling program.

 

The instructor is Cindy Aiko Leimomi Goodness Zane, PsyD, JD. Cindy is the founder of Hawaiʻi Center for EFT (HICEFT), EFT Trainer, Supervisor and Therapist. Cindy is passionate about training more EFT clinicians throughout Hawaiʻi and around the world. She finds especially meaningful the support and the development of local EFT clinicians, those of multicultural backgrounds and diverse identities, as well as those who work with diverse and/or marginalized populations.

This workshop is scheduled to apply for Japanese Clinical psychologist qualification renewal points. CEUs will be requested and available for an additional fee (USD35). Alliant International University is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Billy Cleary, clinical director of TELL counseling, is the organizer, and Miho Takai, ICEEFT EFT certified therapist of Sky Counseling & Consultation Tokyo is the supporter for this event.
