Counseling Approaches

The counseling approaches used depends on the counselor and the problem being addressed. They include client-centered approach, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoanalytic approach, family therapy, gestalt therapy, existential approach, brief therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, etc.

The approaches used in couple counseling include, in addition to the above, various types of family therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) developed by Dr. Sue Johnson from Canada.  We also have a counselor who uses the Gottman Approach developed by Dr. John Gottman. Those two approaches are widely known as couples therapy approaches.
